In our Bradley class, our instructor encouraged us to look up videos on Youtube of belly dancing and learn the moves. She explained that belly dancing is a great form of exercise while being pregnant, because of how our body moves while dancing. I looked up a few videos tonight.
I'm going to admit: I had no idea what belly dancing was. I thought it was that creepy ground bouncing dance stuff that guys do when trying to show off. I couldn't help but think while Debbra was telling us to learn the moves, "WHAATTT? How is that even safe!?" Now I know... lol. And I can also see somewhat, as to why it might be good for us. It looks like a really great workout-one that would probably--well, most definitely kick my butt!
I'm willing to give it a try, but I'm just gonna say two things now: A) You'll never catch me wearing the typical "belly dancing wardrobe." (With the exception of that awesome bell laced skirt thingy the lady in the first video is wearing. A skirt that jingles every time I shake my rear? That's just as cool as sliced cheese!) and B) Well, you'll never catch me belly dancing in general. I'm going to practice, because I'm a good student ;-) But it'll be in the confines of my game room, and only when I'm home alone...with the game room door locked!!!
