Party night with Amanda

Every Tuesday night, my dear friend Amanda comes over and hangs out with me. Over the past few months, we've developed a routine of playing Chinese Checkers on our evenings together. However, we don't play the "normal" way, we're wild and crazy...we play with all 6 colors. Yes, that's right--3 colors each. And yessssss sireee, it gets very confusing!! Well every single Tuesday night for the past I don't even know how many months I've spanked her butt playing this game! She seriously has lost every single round we've played. So a few weeks ago I said, "Amanda, the night you finally win a round of Checkers against me, I promise the following week we will have a party in your honor!" Lo and Behold, Amanda's day finally came last Tuesday night.

So tonight, Amanda showed up to a house full of balloons and a very crummy streamer job. (It's hard for a prego lady to stand on a chair and hang steamers! I kind of gave up!! ...It's the thought that counts...right?!)

When she arrived, the French Vanilla cupcakes were just coming out of the oven. We let them cool for a while and then we attempted to make frosting in a blender. Lets just say..."It didn't go so well." First off, I think I nearly killed my poor little blender, who has never had to work so hard in his entire life time. And secondly, something went waaay wrong with the recipe and I ended up having to add 3 extra cups of powdered sugar. You can only imagine how sweet this frosting was!! In fact, so much extra sugar was added, the frosted cupcakes have begun to crystallize and I can now CUT the frosting. Explain that one! After frosting half of the cupcakes, we decided to try to tone the flavor down with cocoa powder. It worked fabulously--it is now deemed one of the most delicious frostings ever tasted!

We spent the rest of the evening...of course, playing Chinese Checkers. Amanda proudly won another round, to which I quickly informed her that we are not going to be having a party every time she wins a round!! We each enjoyed a cupcake...which was about one cupcake too much, having already stuffed ourselves to the brim with frosting. Needless to say, I think we'll both be feeling pretty awful tonight. :-/ But...that's a price I think we're both willing to pay. Those cupcakes were pretty darn delicious.

Disclaimer!

Something that I would like to state now, while at the beginning of this new blog is:
(This is my disclaimer!!)

Not always, will you be thrilled with what I write as I am a very vocal person and I state my opinions honestly. If you don't like it, please just remind yourself:
I'm not making you read it. You came to my blog by choice.
So, if you chose to read it, deal with it; If you don't agree, stop reading it.

Also not all topics written about on this blog will be rated "G." Obviously I won't be writing about anything incredibly inappropriate, but there may be posts that deal with certain topics I wouldn't want my young daughter reading and can only assume you wouldn't want your daughter reading either. I will do my best to warn my readers at the beginning of a post if it's not entirely age appropriate.

Finally, to any males who may happen to venture upon this blog...here is your one and only warning: this blog is written by a female. It will cover many topics that may embarrass you entirely.

A new blog!!

Yay!!! I finally have Internet!! I'm super stoked--more excited than even on Christmas day! I've spent the past few weeks setting this blog up, but swore I wouldn't start posting until I was the proud owner of Internet at my own house. And now...finally, after months of dreaming of this moment.... I have Internet at my house! From now on, it's going to be so easy for me to blog. Instead of having to go to my parents and use their Internet (and hope to remember to blog!) I can now hop online at home, whenever the urge or desire to blog arises within me.

This blog's life purpose is a few things:

a) I'd like to use it as a diary of some sorts. I'm going to *attempt* to hop on daily and post something--be it something small and minor, or something extra exciting--like a picture or a video clip. Some days, my posts might be very random. But that is how my mind works, so if you happen to hop on here one day, and all I have posted is a picture of some shoes from online, you can just know that obviously, those shoes were on my mind and I wanted to share them with my imaginative readers. (I say "imaginative, because nobody reads my blogs!...probably because I post too many pictures of shoes...) ;-) But other days, I might actually have a very long and purposeful post. It might be a silly story, a random adventure, or even something heavy and thought provoking. Namely, with the idea of using it as a diary...I hope to keep track of everything that happens in life...from the big stuff all the way down to the stupid stuff. Someday, my children will read this blog; they will giggle at all that they read and they will thank me, for keeping track of our everyday life.

b) I hope to use this blog as a way to daily make sure I am thanking Jesus for something in life. By aiming to daily post something positive, uplifting, or joyful, I am forcing myself to daily see joy in a day that, well, might not otherwise have been so "joyous."

c) I will also be using this blog to write about a lot that goes on inside of my head. Writing is a good way to get my thoughts out on paper and to not forget them. These "thoughts" as I stated above, will range from "Maycie is a stupid dog" all the way down to very long posts about what I've learned in devotions, my opinions on something or randomness that Jesus has put on my heart. Very often I feel like the Lord is speaking to me on a subject and prompting me to write it down and share with people. I always write it down...yet have nowhere to "share" it with people. Though my readers as of now are "imaginative," someday this blog really will have readers.

So, with that being written...Thus begins the life of a new blog....happy birthday little blog!!
